Crowns and Bridges
Crowns and Bridges are a restorative procedure used to strengthen teeth and improve aesthetics.
A crown is a ‘cap’ or a manufactured tooth designed to cover the existing tooth structure. It can be made in a variety of materials to suit the patients needs and colour matched for aesthetic perfection.
Cosmetically, crowns can be used to recreate or enhance the teeth and smile and designed to the colour, shape and style that the patient requires.
Crowns and bridges can be used to:
- Replace missing teeth
- Strengthen heavily restored or root canal treated teeth
- Restore worn teeth
- Improve aesthetics
- Restore implants
What is a bridge?
A bridge is multiple crowns joined together to replace gaps and missing teeth and it too can be used for cosmetic purposes.
A bridge is mounted onto existing teeth or implants and cemented into place “bridging” a gap and restoring a beautiful smile.
What is a crown?
A crown is a covering or “cap” that sits over the existing tooth structure. It is custom made for each patient to fit their mouth perfectly. A crown is shaped and colour matched to suit the patients needs and can be used to restore and strengthen damaged teeth or to improve aesthetics by changing the colour, shape, size and positioning of the current teeth.
An implant crown serves the same functions as a normal crown but instead of sitting over an existing tooth, it is screwed into an implant to replace a missing tooth. Like regular crowns, implant crowns can be made in a variety of materials to suit the patients needs and will restore function and aesthetics where a tooth or multiple teeth have been lost.
